Why the Willow Weeps Why the Willow Weeps

Rated 5 / 5 stars

Looks great, You did an amazing job of portraying a certain mood in your picture which is very hard for most people to do. You really made it look gloomy. The drawing is good, but by far my favorite part was the mood the drawing had.

I really like the top where it is solid and then drips down. It looks very nice. I also really like the background and the circle around the tree looks cool. The leaves on the tree look very good and you did a great job with that. I really like the black and white color to it but I believe it might look better with a little color. That's just my opinion though, do what you want. It looks very cool how it is sort of smeared, This gives it a very cool look. It is very cool that you did this in acrylic.

Again my favorite part of this is the mood you can portray with such a simple drawing. This is one of the best things to be able to do as an artist and I am sure you will become amazing one day. It really does look sad and depressing mostly because of all the black and the drips of paint. I know it is just supposed to be a landscape, but I think adding a person in there would give emphasize the sort of lonely feeling and make it look better overall. In my opinion the mood is the most important part of a drawing and you really exelled at that with this drawing. It makes you feel sort of sad and alone. This is really emphasized by everything moving downword and being a dark color. This made the drawing very good in my opinion even though it isn't the most realistic drawing.

There are a few problems with the drawing that I can see. I think that the tree should be taller and the bottom part needs to be a little wider. It looks like the trunk of the tree is too short compared to the length of the branches. I also think that the ground should end a slight bit lower than it does now. It seems kind of boring with it only having a tree and I feel it could be improved greatly with the addition of a person or animal. Maybe have the roof come down a little more (I am not sure about this though so really it is up to you)

Overall its a good drawing keep it up, I believe you will be very good one day.

I love it (:

Wow I really like this. Although it is simple the hair looks great. The whole creepy mood of this is very cool and the blood is probably my favorite part. The glowing eyes are awesome too.

I like the way you shaded this and altogether the person looks very nice. As I said earlier the blood looks great. I love the way you can see the light reflecting of of it You also placed the blood well and made it look realistic which a lot of people are not able to do. The shading looks spot on and there are no problems with it that I can see.

I really love the mood of this picture. I love how creepy it is and the way she is a goddess, but she is covered in blood. She looks like she is angry and you did a nice job with her expression. The dark red looks very nice against her light skin and it really helps emphasize the blood.

The main problem I see with this picture is the background. I think that the color of it is too close to the way that the hair is colored so the hair sort of blends in with the background. The shape of the eyes seem a little bit off and I think you could improve on that too. As someone said before me the head seems off. This is really my opinion, but I don't really like the way the lips look. That may just be me though, so I wouldn't worry about it.

Overall this looks very nice and I look forward to seeing more work from you. (:

Thanks for the awesome review, and thanks for pointing those mistakes out, I'm sure to improve. :D

Go On Without Me Go On Without Me

This looks really nice. I love the colors and the clouds in the background look amazing. I really like the overall feel of the piece and I see few problems with it.

The colors you chose were probably my favorite part of this piece. The silhouettes look great against the orange sunset and the way the grass is flying up looks very nice. The people seem well proportioned and I like the way their hair looks in the wind. I have not seen any of your art before, but I am very glad I did now.

I really love the overall theme of this drawing too. I am not sure if you intended a deeper meaning to the painting, but it tells a story to me at least. The person on the right seems ready to give up on whatever it is he is doing while the other person is helping him along. They look silent and alone and it seems like they understand each other without speaking. It seems like they are going on a huge journey and they will have to struggle to complete it. It gives you hope and makes you feel like if things get too hard you will always have help from your friends. I am not sure if you even meant for anyone to think this hard about it, but whatever I like it when drawings are like this.

There are few problems with this piece and they are not very large problems. I do not really like the smoke in the bottom left of the screen. It would probably look better if you had it darker and more transparent like it is on the right. Your signature is a little large and it would be nice if you had maybe shrunk it down a little more.

Overall this is a great drawing. It only has a few problems and the sunset in the background is beautiful. I am really exited to see what else you are capable of making. Keep drawing, you are great at it.

Haha, this really made me laugh. It wasn't just the overall joke either. It was the subtle things in the background that made me laugh too. Like the fact that he is taking care of a plant even though it is his job to kill people, and he hung a painting on his wall. I wander what kind of show he would be watching.
Your artwork has really improved from your earlier drawings. The lighting and color looks better than in a lot of your older work. My eyes are really drawn to the skull with it being the lightest and most detailed part of the whole thing. I really like the way the lighting on the cans and the way the smoke looks. Overall it's really nice.
There are a few things I dislike about the painting though. Mainly the fact that this one doesn't have a deeper meening like some of your other stuff. Which is fine, just personally I like it better when it tells more of a story. I feel that the cloak gets a little too light on the left side of the drawing. The drawing still looks great and the things I don't like are sort of opinions.
I really like the detail in the remote and the top of his scythe. The whole painting is sort of peaceful and the colors are nice. Are you going to start adding jaws to the skulls or was this only for this one drawing? I really liked it and it made me laugh. He would obviously be on Newgrounds instead of watching t.v. though.

Haha thanks man!

I've tried harder to improve lately, trying out new stuff and spending more time thinking about what I am doing in each image. I hope that have made me improve, its too early for me to tell yet.

I more often like doing those "deeper" things, but this was just one of those thoughts you had to get out since its funny. I never thought it would be this appriciated as this image has been now. Its a great thing though.
Also, the jaw was just for this one, it wouldn't be nice to remove it, I think he's quite used to it. :)

Maybe its hard to get internet in.... wherever he is, so he cant visit newgrounds. Not that i would like him hanging around here. Haha.

I thank you for your pointers and your review!

This piece is amazing. The color and overall feel of the picture is awesome. It looks sort of creepy but also peaceful in a way. I love how big the drawing is too.You can really see the detail in the painting. The background is great and I love how the room is smokey.

It seems like the two died suddenly and did not expect their death at all. Like they are peaceful and were enjoying themselves at the time that it happened. The lack of jaws on the skulls adds a whole mysterious quality to the piece. It also looks really cool. They almost look like father and son with the one one the right being so much taller unless the one on the left is just supposed to be farther away.

Your whole painting style is awesome and I love the feeling that this painting gives you. It makes me feel sort of happy like I don't need to worry about the problems I have. You said that this was inspired by one of the best nights of your life and I am starting to see it the more I look at it.

One thing I am wondering about is why they still have hands and their clothes are still looking fine even though the rest of the body has decomposed and a spider web is attached to one's skull. But whatever it looks nice. I really like how you put more detail on the skull than the clothes. It really makes them stand out and look like the main focus point of the drawing.

There really isn't anything wrong with the piece. Except maybe the way the area around the skull on the left is blurred. Unless that is just to make it stand out even more than it already is. It also looks like the table only has two legs. Pretty much a flawless painting in my opinion.

I love this drawing and it is my favorite painting I have ever seen. I have it set as the wallpaper for my computer right now. ( : Anyway you are a great painter and I love all your work (this is my favorite though). I hope to see more from you soon.

Also, Modest Mouse is awesome.

Thank you very much! I really appricate the time you took writing this review, and I'm very glad you liked it so much!

I really like your interpertation, you take a whole other apporach to the image than I do myself, and that makes me look at it in a new way. Thank you!

I will do more as soon as I find some time to.
And, yes, Modest Mouse are totaly awesome. (:

I love the texture and the way the characters are made of straight lines. The colors you chose were great I especially liked the left side because of the bright red tie and the white writing at the top.

The background for each side looks good, but it seems sort of uneven because on the left there are lots of buildings that are easy to see while the other side has a single building that sort of blends in with the background. The text is blurry unless it is zoomed in and I do not really like the blue color of the text on the left side.

I am really looking forward to the flash for this and it is a great piece overall.

AlmightyHans responds:

i literally just added an invert color filter over the same image and left it however it came out. I think the text must look blurry on some computers cause it looks clear in mine. maybe it's those glass tube t.v. looking computer monitors it happens to. i dunno.
